This is the colonnaded Legislative Council Building, built in 1910 from local granite, housing Hong Kong's Government. It was the Supreme Court in colonial days. The Bank of China Tower looms behind as a reminder that "Big Brother" is watching. Next to the Council Building is Statue Square (where the tree is), making a calm oasis between the busy roads.
