From Pemuteran we had a lovely drive over the mountains, where we saw Cloves being harvested, and Poinsetias like trees, before descending to our final destination, the Laghawa Beach Hotel at Sanur. We had 4 nights here at about £23 a night for our attractive room with a gorgeous Balinese ceiling. Sanur was the original "tourist" resort but has a village feel and there are some great shops and restaurants right on the beach. The Laghawa has lovely grounds and direct beach access. Despite living like a King and Queen the average cost of our accommodation in Bali was £33 a night. Package tourists could pay at least twice this for far less character.
