So far we have visited Menorca and Mallorca in that order. The plan is to eventually do the lot - Ibiza and Formentera won't be left out!

Of the two, Menorca wins hands down on being much the most natural and unspoilt of the islands, but Mallorca has its charms if you do as we did and avoid the obvious Tourist Grot!

The pics are now up and running!

We went to Menorca in April 1999 for an Easter short break. Nowadays (post 2003) we like to create our own holidays but this holiday was booked as a package at the Co-op travel agent with Airtours. We managed to get a good deal on a decent apartment in the Sunwing Resort  near Ciutadella, the old Island Capital , at the western end of the island. This was a good place from which to explore. Distances are not great and car hire is cheap. Menorca in April was lovely, with loads of wild flowers, not many visitors, fantastic deserted beaches and the weather was decent. The pictures are pre-digital camera so are scanned.

Mallorca in April 2002 was pretty chilly! We wished we had brought a heater. In contrast to Menorca this was a  DIY trip. Flights from Easyjet from Luton were booked well in advance and were cheap. Our accommodation was a delightful small Villa booked through Vintage Travel. We had read an article in the paper about this set up which provides accommodation away from the tourist trail. This proved to be the case and our place, Ca'an Roig (pronounced Carn Roich) was near Campos, a typical Spanish Market Town in the South East part of the Island and well located for some lovely Coves. Despite the cool weather we did use the pool and even went in the sea!
