These
Paris Albums are the only ones we've done of France
so far, so the "France Button" is cosmetic!
We went
to Paris on Eurostar from Ashford from April 7th to 9th 2005,
with Rol's Mum and his sister Kate (Catherine). We stayed at the
Hotel des Arts
on Rue Tholoze half way up the Montmartre "Butte", within walking
distance
of the Place du Tertre. The weather was cool and mixed but we managed
to cover a load of ground and Rol's Mum walked us off our feet!
Thumbnails 2 to 7 are of the Montmartre area, 8 to 17 need no
explanation ! 19 to 27 are in and around Notre Dame - Rol's Mum had a
quiet time inside while Kathy and Kate and Rol explored the Towers
- before Pope John Paul 2nd's funeral. Rol felt at home
up top. 28 was at a smashing Moroccan Restaurant up the road
from our hotel, and 29 to 31 are at the Arc de Triomphe. 32 and 33 are
at the Samaritaine department store showing the superb Art Deco
interior and the view from the Terrace Cafe; the tea drunk
by Rol and his Mum while the other two "shopped" was dreadful. 32 to 37
were at the Louvre where homage was paid to Mona Lisa and her
pals and 38, the Arc, on the edge of the Jardens des Tuileries .
The last two were taken at Place de L'Alma before we set off on a night
time river trip.
