The other India. On reflection this was a "good" slum, we were to see many that were far more sorded. All along the tracks, as we pulled out of Delhi, we were to see how poor people lived - washing, walking, sitting on the rails, eating breakfast - and this was at 6.30 am. A quarter of Delhi's 14 million people live like this. We read how the Government wants to inaugurate a scheme to clear the slums by building cheap new houses. This scheme is being contested by the Builders and Developers who claim that the subsidies will put them out of business.
