This was a trip of a lifetime to celebrate our 50th Birthdays. A "standard" Thomas Cook Fly Drive trip was modified to enable us to enjoy a 3 week itinerary that finished with a 6 day "rest" on Penang Island in the lap of luxury.

Singapore highlights.. efficient public transport, heat and humidity (cooled by air-con from open doors of huge buildings ), wonderful foodmarkets and food halls, the cable car  at  Mt. Faber and friendly people. A very safe city.
Malaysia highlights, too many really,.. unspoilt Rain Forest at Taman Negara National Park and its sounds at night, exquisite traditional Malay architecture, wonderful and cheap hawker food,  amazing temples and mosques.

Our Itinerary...3 nights in Singapore. Next stop, via the glorious Penghulu's (Chief's) house, was Malacca;  walks, around  the old town, and a visit to a Baba Nonya house.  Then across the peninsular to Kuantan  for a swim in the South China Sea. Across to  KL and a visit to the Park to see the Petronas Towers. Then by chauffered car and boat to Taman Negara rainforest. Return to KL for main sights and the Batu Caves (smelly), where we got lost! Next to Cameron Highlands - cool and green, covered in tea plantations - and to Penang for 6 days of sun and sea and beautiful and friendly people, buildings and countryside.
